Assignment:
Part 1. Connect one of the main characters to a character from another story or movie. Give details and evidence on how the two characters are connected. For example: Darth Vadar reminds me of Lord Sauron because..,
Part 2. What other storyline is similiar to Star Wars? Identify major plots, storyline, and endings with another movie or story like Macbeth? Maybe??
Mason Cole: PART 1
ReplyDeleteLuke Skywalker reminds me of Harry Potter, because both believe they are normal humans until something weird happens and someone enters their life that tells them and proves to them that they aren't normal. Both are taken to relatives to be raised. Both of their relatives don't want them to know about their parents. Both have to battle the dark or evil side. Harry Potter's lightning bolt scar is like the force because it can sense Voldemort or evil. Both want to learn the ways of their father (Luke's father before he became Darth Vader). Their enemies both changed names when they turned evil (Anakin to Darth Vader Tom Marvolo Riddle to Voldemort). Voldemort murdered Harry's parents, and Anakin was told that Darth Vader murdered his father. Dumbledore tought Tom Riddle, Harry Potter's enemy, and Harry Potter at Hogwarts and Obi-Wan Kenobi taught Anikin, Lukes future enemy, and Luke. Both of them had followers who helped them and fought against their enemies minions/followers.
Part 1: Luke Skywalker is much like Odysseus in the Odyssey. Both have to go onto a hero's journey, which is very popular in many myths and stories. Also, he is like the Celtic hero, Conneda, because just like Luke, he is naive, powerless, and cannot distinguish good from evil.
ReplyDeleteI like the connection to the Greek myths
DeletePart 1: I would connect Luke Skywalker reminds me of Edward Cullen, because Luke is in love with Princess Leia and would do whatever he could to save her. Edward Cullen was in love with Bella Swan, and went to extremes to save her, even if it included getting himself killed. At the same time, Princess Leia and Bella Swan are connected because they both have a man in love with them, that was willing to fight to their death for them.
ReplyDeletePart 2: Another storyline that is similar to Star Wars, is Star Trek, because it’s about a guy who is very heroic. He joins the academy for training, and he became a commander. There is a man in the way from his way to commander, named Spock. They relate because they both have intense sci-fi characters, that are in the way of someone’s goal. For Star Wars, it is Darth Vador, and for Star Trek, it is Spock.
Luke and Leia are siblings
Deletethat's not revealed yet... so... yeah...
DeleteIn the end, Spock and Christopher become friends and they work together. Darth Vader, in the end of "A New Hope", is still against Luke. Also, the movie didn't specify that Luke and Leia were in love.
DeleteYou choose Twilight too! :)
DeleteThey are siblings?!?! I am so confuse.
Deletethat's weird...so weird...and scary
DeleteHAHAHAHA Alice
Deletebut they still like each other right?
When I say Darth Vader in my blog, I mean Anikin who is controlled/ is Darth Vader
DeleteMason Cole: Part 2
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter is a lot like Starwars, because they both have a good main character who learns he has special powers and whose parents are "dead or lost" and has to fight against the person that they believed killed their parents. They have help along the way, make friends, and use their powers to fight the evil or dark side. They are always taking chances and making mistakes, as well as getting into tight situations. They learn new things about their powers and themselves as they fight their enemies. Both have a large (fat) character who offers the main character their support, as well as expresses their own feeling vividly (Hagrid and Chewbacca). The story line of the movies are practically the same, except one is based on magic, and the other based on "the force". Voldemort's face is also ugly like Darth Vader's in the last movie. Yoda is a lot like Albus Dumbledore, as is Obi-Wan Kenobi. Yoda and Obi-Wan, just like Dumbledore give up when their time is up or they feel they are now weak and would rather die than be captured. They allow themselves to be killed, for they lost most of their power and are old.
Is there an empire and dark lords in harry potter?
DeleteThe dark lord is Voldemort his empire is his followers...
DeleteHis Death Eaters were actually once known as the Knights of Walpurgis.
DeleteYes Mr.T the Dark Lord is Voldemort and his empire is his followers and the Death Star is Malfoy Manor and The Generals are the Malfoys and Bellatrix Lestrange
DeletePart 1: Darth Vader is like Voldemort because they continuously try to foil his plans, but it takes a lot to take him down. He must kill someone who is very close to himself, but they end up being the reason he died.
ReplyDeletePart 2: Star Wars is similar to Harry Potter because there is an evil force and a rebellion against them. The rebellion has been fighting the evil force for years, but they have gained little progress. It is not until the main hero takes his role as the savior of the good. The protagonist defeats the evil force once and for all in a matter of years. They both suffer losses at the hands of their enemy. After it all done, they live the rest of their lives in peace.
Another harry potter comparison
DeleteEVERYONE IS DOING HARRY POTTER... even me
DeleteThat is because Harry Potter is...... amazing, or as masha would say, hotmazing :) btw allie likes to chew on noses
DeletePart 2:
ReplyDeleteStargate
Much like Star Wars, Stargate is a "Hero's Journey". It also includes an interesting relationship between two of the main characters. In Star Wars, the two character Princess Leah and Han Solo experience an interesting love/hate relationship.
What is Stargate about?
DeleteAgree
DeleteWho ends up marrying Leia
Part I:
ReplyDeleteObi-Wan Kenobi reminds me most of Albus Dumbledore because they both trained young students into becoming great Jedi or wizards. However, the students they trained both used their talents to cause terror within the galaxy or world. The teachers of the young students had to bring about their downfall, with the help of two other students that they were teaching, Luke Skywalker and Harry Potter (amazing). After the two teachers died, the students finally killed the old students of the teacher, Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort.
Part II:
Star Wars is like Harry Potter (Sorcerer's Stone). This is because there is a boy who lives with his aunt and uncle. They never tell him what his parents actually were. Later, other people of his kind finally reveal to him what his parents truly were. From there on, he is trained by his teacher and encounters many dangerous things while trying to bring peace to the galaxy or the wizarding world. Finally, his teacher dies and he is left to defeat the bad guy (Voldemort or Darth Vader) with help from his friends and guidance from elders.
Hmmm, it seem that the storyline is similiar: JK Rowling use the same story?
DeleteNever thought about it that way. Pretty cool. It is weird why 2 popular story lines are so similar. P.S.(to Mr. T.)
DeleteI don't think J.K.Rowling plagiarized and stole the story line. For one, the Harry Potter story extends out for longer time.
No way! Harry Potter is an original story BY J.K. Rowling. It's too amazing to be copied off of Star Wars.
DeleteSomething that way prove she was plagiarizing is that the first Star Wars book was release in 1976 and the last book in the movies was released in 1983. The first Harry Potter book was released in 1998 and the last was released in 2007. This gave J.K .R lots of time.
DeleteAre you sure... They are all based on the same premise...
Delete1. Obi-Wan Kenobi (or Ben Kenobi) reminds me of Mr. Han (played by Jackie Chan) in the movie Karate Kid (the new one/remake) because they are both mentors who are teaching their own student to defend/fight for himself. Obi-Wan teaches Luke the ways of the force so he can defeat Darth Vader, and Mr. Han teaches Dre martial arts so he can defend himself from the school bullies.
ReplyDelete2. Spacehunters: Adventures from the Forbidden Zone is so similar to Star Wars: A New Hope that it's a ripoff of it. First of all, there are similar characters: Wolff, a space-traveler and salvage dealer, similar to Han Solo; Wolff's spunky technician whose attitude is very similar to Princess Leia's attitude, and Overdog, the dictator, who is obviously the movie's own Darth Vader. The movie has evil monsters, robots, spaceships, and the dictator doing what he does best: dictating.
i agree on part 2
DeleteI like the connection you made with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mr.Han :)
DeleteKarate Kid is a bit like Star Wars
Deleteand spacehunter characters are identical
An evil lord who can choke you with his mind is very different from school bullies.
DeleteDarth Vadar reminds me of "Zurg" ,one of the toys from toy story, because:
ReplyDeleteA)they look alike
B)It was meant to be like Darth Vadar because at one point in the movie he says to Buzz, "I am your father"
The movie The Chronicles of Narnia: the lion, the witch and the wardrobe reminds me of Star Wars episode IV: A New Hope because it is about the fight between the good and the bad side. Also at the end of Star Wars Luke Skywalker and Han Solo get awarded as the heroes just like in Narnia the 4 children also get recognized as the heroes/princes/princesses etc.
does zurg reminds you of darth vadar:? the quote is famous then buzz must be Luke?
DeleteOMG ROSA THAT IS SOOOO TRUE!!!! You are a genius, I didnt even think of that....
DeleteThe four children became Kings and Queens of Narnia.
Deletegood connection with the characters. zurg does fit with darth vader pretty good.
DeletePart 1:
They are alike because they are both very evil and like to kill people.
Part 2:
The story of Star Wars is a lot like Harry Potter because it is about a hero who basically has to save his entire (fantasy) world. All of the actions of this hero decide the outcome of the entire world. Much like Luke Skywalker, Harry Potter also has his own faithful allies (Chewbacca = Hermione, C-3PO = Ron, and Obi-wan Kenobi = Dumbledore, R2D2 = Allie). The villain in this story is also known as a supreme dark lord. Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort are very much alike.
was the scene from toy story adapted from star wars?
Deletezzzzurg...jk rosa :) what a funky name
DeleteHa ha Rosa that is so smart. Zurg does remind me of Darth Vader and Zurg reminds me of Toy story and Toy story reminds me of a similar time, when we could just play the night away with toys. Ahhh i miss those days.:)
DeletePart 1:The character Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars series reminds me of David “Dave” Stutler. Both characters had a “master” and learned from their master. Though the two characters have different personalities, they were the protagonist, or the hero, of their movies or stories.
DeletePart 2: The story of Star Wars reminds me of the Lightning Thief movie. The two heroes in the movie encounter some sort of evil figure in their movies. Luke encounters Darth Vader and Percy Jackson encounters Hades.
Yeah but Zurg doesn't cut off Buzz's arm...
DeleteI think they based Buzz's story of Luke
DeleteI think so
DeletePart 1
ReplyDeleteHan Solo reminds me of Sam Houston because Sam Houston retreated in the US-Mexican War and Han Solo retreated from the Rebellion Base. They both left for personal reasons, but they fought back. Although Sam Houston decided not to fight for the Alamo, he decided to fight back at the battle of San Jacinto. Han Solo decided to go back home after he received his prize money, but he decided to stay and help. In the end, both are remembered and rewarded.
Part 2
Another storyline similar to Star Wars: A New Hope is Star Trek: The Original Series. Both take place in the future and are Sci-fi. They have characters who are fighting against evil and have spacecrafts. They encounter and conquer evil. They both take place in outer space and have advanced technology.
Part 1: From my point of view Chewbacca is most like Dopey for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I think they are similar because since Chewbacca is very quiet and loyal to Han Solo, Dopey is very quiet too and he is very loyal to Snow White. Chewbacca doesn’t speak a language that we can understand so his actions speak as his words. The same thing with Dopey, he never says a single word, but is always doing something that speaks for him. We can tell that Chewbacca is big, hairy, violent monster because we saw in the movie that he just picked up a gun and started shooting. He is also fearful of some things even though he is a big hairy giant. When Han, Luke, and the Princess are going into the ship and they are going against some storm troopers, Chewbacca gets scared because he doesn’t want to get shot. You would think that such a big monster would not be scared of anything. Same as Dopey, he gets sacred of very small things like lightning or thunder.
ReplyDeletePart 2: I also think that a good movie/story that is similar to Star Wars IV is Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Both of them involve a plot where the main character finds out something that they didn’t know. Also both of them have to accomplish a mission they never thought they could. So this I basically how both the stories go: the main character finds out something he never knew or could believe, then he is assigned to fulfill a mission and along in his mission he gets help from a friend. In the end, both of them finish the mission and get rewarded somehow.
Chewbacca is like Dopey.. good thinking
DeleteLots of allusions to Greek Myths and Chewbacca with another usually Disney character
Deletegood
hahahah! I can totally relate to this!
ReplyDeletePart 1: Luke and Harry are alike. Harry and Luke both are orphans. They also had great destiny ahead of them. They became great people in the end of the series
ReplyDeletePart 2: It is also like harry potter. Harry lived with is aunt and uncle's house just like Luke. Luke and Harry also went away and learn to use there power. The story line is also close together. The dark side or the imperial wanted total domination, and Voldemort wanted to take over the world.
everyone is doing harry potter!!!!!!!!!!!!... even though I did him too
DeleteDark Vadar reminds me of James from the Twilight Series. Dark Vadar is ruthless, because he his willing to kill his own kids, Luck and Princess Leia. James is willing to kill Bella, a innocent human. Dark Vadar is vicious, because he uses the powers at his hand to hurt others. e.g. : In the scene where he chokes the guy, because he says something that he doesn't like. James uses his tracking powers to find Bella and hurt her.
ReplyDeleteThe movie Breaking Dawn from the Twilight Series, because the Cullens form a different kind of rebel group to stand against the Volturi. In New Hope their is a rebel group against the Dark side. The leaders of the Dark Sides are both evil. In Twilight it's Aro. In New Hope it's Lord Sideus.
It's Luke.
DeleteTwilight seriously?????
DeleteYeah. Seriously??
DeleteAro is the bad guy?? I thought the Volturi where worried about the immortal child or something. You could link this to the Rebellion though.
DeleteLuke Skywalker reminds me of Sam Witwicky from Transformers because they both will do anything that they can to save the innocent people. They both had mentors that helped them through out the story line with their wisdom. The mentors also ends up dying will fighting for their enemies. And they also fall in love with a girl. Another story line that is similar to Star Wars is Transformer because there is a guy that had an ordinary life until this one thing that changes their life. They begin to realize their true destiny which is saving the world and then they do whatever they can to save their world from evil forces. Then later on the heroes are recognized for the bravery.
ReplyDeleteTo me, doing anything to save the innocent is an archetype and is shown in most stories, movies, etc. Who does Luke Skywalker love? If you are talking about Princess Leia, then you need to realize that she is his twin sister. Also, most heroes "recognize their bravery", so that is another archetype appearing in most stories.
DeleteTransformers... wondered where you got that from.. good connection though (:P)
DeletePart 1
ReplyDeleteChewbacca is like the character Dumbo. Both Chewbacca and Dumbo don’t talk in the movies that they are in. However both characters are able to display a variety of emotions even with limited noises. Both of the characters are also very loveable.
Part 2
Star Wars: A New Hope is similar to Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark. In both movies there is a major character they both are on quests. During the quests both of the protagonists are faced with many difficult situations and face death many times. Both of the protagonists are also guided by more knowledgeable people.
Didn't George Lucas make both Indiana Jones and Star Wars?
DeleteYes and No
DeleteI didn't think of Indiana Jones- didn't they have the same director or something, and come out close to each other
DeleteWarning the content below contains fail grammar.
ReplyDeleteDarth Vadar makes me think of Zurg from toy story. Because they look the same and they are like EVIL~~~! Their voices and mood is the same, that creepy black, kind of fail scary.
This movie remainds me of the spirit within because they have fight and the alien attack was some what similar and then when plot on how the the main character are some what similar. The part where the end in spirit within that the monster blew up is same with the planet/station.
So then Buzz is Luke??
DeleteStar Wars
ReplyDeletePart 1:
Luke Skywalker reminds me of Percy Jackson because they both have to leave their home in order to strengthen their power and they both have a special power within them. Percy also reminds me of Luke because both of them are young and must leave their family and on an adventure to develop their power and save peoples lives with the help of their mentors.
Part 2:
Star wars can be compared to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because they are both movie that are fiction but sometime believable, and the lead for both movies had special powers that they had to perfect in order to save something they cared about (Harry Potter: Hogwarts) and (Star Wars: the galaxy). The characters are also similar in some way such as Darth Vader compared to Lord Voldemort. Luke skywalker compared to Harry Potter, Princess Leia compared to Hermione, and Han Solo compared to Ron Weasley.
I like the connection
DeleteBTW, who does Leia eventually marry??
She marries Han Solo, Who else would she marry???
DeleteI think Star Wars:A New Hope is very similar to the Harry Potter series. Luke Skywalker reminds me of Harry Potter, because they do not know who they are and are raised by their relatives (aunt and uncle) except that harry has really mean relatives and a stupid cousin. Voldemort is a lot like Darth Vader, and he is part of Harry due to the Horucrux, while Darth Vader is Luke's father. Obi-wan Kenobi is Albus Dumbledore- both tutor both Luke/Harry and Darth Vader/ Voldemort.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter storyline is extremely related to the Star Wars series. Both have heroes that are fighting against a dark force, and the leader of that is somehow connected to them. The heroes are both suddenly brought into this new world, and must vanquish Darth Vader/ Voldemort, only to find out the shocking truth about them. Both their mentors die, but leave help/clues to help them find the way to victory. Both heroes have to do this multiple times. In the end, the heroes are victorious, and have vanquished the dark force; and have killed Voldemort/ Darth Vader singlehandedly in the end.
A)Han Solo reminds me of Jack Sparrow because they are both wanted criminals with bounties on their heads, one's a smuggler and the other's a pirate. They are both people that try to repay old debts but instead end up killing their debtors; Han eventually kills Jabba the Hut later in the series while
ReplyDeleteB) The Chronciles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe reminds me of Star Wars IV because like Luke Skywalker, it follows the story of a group of kids who are sent away to live with their relatives after their home gets endangered.
Similar to Starwars IV, the protagonists of Narnia are looking for excitement, similar to Luke Skywalker when he wanted to go off-plante. But both storylines involve the protagonists participating in a huge battle that determines the fate of their faction. And in the end, the protagonist from both movies are rewarded.
I like the connection between pirates and astronaut people/ future people
DeleteRon- golden man, who, no matter what always follows Luke, and need Hermione in order to survive and not die from boredom
ReplyDeleteHermione- Atoo, the little droid, the braniac with all the information, evryone needs him (her) in order to prevail- the brains behind everything
Ginny- Princess Leia, because she is Luke's/ Harry's love interest, and they eventually get married (idk about Star Wars)
Hagrid- Han solo, because they aren't exactly law abiders, and will stick with Harry/Luke in the end
Hound- the monkey guy because they are Hagrid/solo's pet
Draco- the general commander working with Darth Vader
Death Eaters- white robots
Leia is lukes sister and their father is darth vader, and it was Han who like leia
DeletePart 1-
ReplyDeleteLuke Skywalker is like the main character in TRON. They are both different types of movies: Luke tries to capture the Death Star, and in the movie, TRON, the main character enters a secret world. They are similar because in Star Wars, Luke finds Princess Leia hidden, and in TRON Legacy, the main character finds his father in a totally different electronically world.
Part 2-
Another movie which is similar to Star Wars is TRON. This is because both movies have a similar plot. In Star Wars, there is a hero who tries to save someone captured. In TRON, the main character finds out his father in the different world. They both try to save the person captured, and go through many ALMOST-DEATHS –LIKE scenes, but in the end the goal is achieved!
- TUBA SHIWANI(:
part 1: I think obi-wan is like brom from eragon because both teach a way of life that is forgotten: jedi(starwars) dragon riders (eragon) and both die eventually and leave their students to continue their training.
ReplyDeletepart 2: Star wars is like the harry potter series because both heroes din't know what they were for luke it was being a jedi and for harry it was being a wizard. Both of the worlds have some mystic force and there is a corrupt government in both stories and there are evil lords that the heroes defeat in the end.
Oh, and Ron/golden man and Atoo/Hermione have little golden droid children
ReplyDelete
