  3. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" was my favorite quote because it stood at during that scene. And of course, one of my favorite scene was when the quote above was said. One of my favorite character was Scarlett because she was so dramatic.

  5. quote: "Maybe I have a weakness for lost causes that are really lost...or maybe I'm just ashamed." This quote sort of reminds me of myself and I think it's something I would say. I'm not always sure of the reason I do things like Rhett isn't sure about the reason he's going for war.
scene:"i'll never go hungry again" scarlett scene because she's convincing and promising herself that she'll never go hungry again;it's very inspiring. Also, I like the setting of this scene; it's just beautiful.
character:Melanie because she's very caring and sees only the good side in people. For example,in an unspoken way, she sort of forgives Scarlett after that awkward scene when Scarlett and Ashley are hugging.

    1. great insight on her character: see how this applies to history and people: not isolated events but about people

  6. "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." This was one of my favorite quotes from the movie because even though Rhett Butler loved her, she betrayed him, and he said something very hurtful to her. My favorite character was Prissy because the way they portrayed her in the movie was very amusing. She was a slave who lied to impress others, but didn't know a thing at all. " I don't know nothin' bout birthin babies!!" This was my favorite scene: Prissy said a line and then Scarlett slapped her for lying. This was my favorite scene because Prissy clearly deserved it for lying even though she was young, slave girl.

  7. "As God as my witness, I shall never go hungry again!"-Scarlett O'Hera is my favorite quote because it is symbolizing the turn of poverty of Tera after the war. My favorite character was Melanie because she was kind and sweet to everyone she met, but she also was strong and agressive when she had to, like when the Yankee came into the house and she came with a sword. My favorite scene was when the Yankee broke into the house looking for things to steal, and Scarlett shot him. It is my favorite scene because it shows how women can defend themselves and how they don't have to have men around to protect them. They can protect themselves.

  8. Favorite Character: Rhett Butler because of his distinct personality. He is so suave and just has a certain presence that I have never see before with any other character.
Favorite Scene: When Rhett throws his whiskey glass at a portrait of Scarlet. It shows the true anger he is feeling towards Scarlett since she will never stop loving Ashley.

It makes you think if Scarlett cares about any thing but money

  9. Favorite Quote: "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" Was a powerful sentence on how Mr. Baron didn't believe her and didn't really care anymore.

Favorite Scene was the Burning of Atlanta. It was interesting how their special effects looked back then.

Favorite Character was Mammy because she always talked common sense and made some scenes funny.

  10. "As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again." was my favorite quote from the movie. My favorite scenes from the movie are when Rhett is playing with his daughter because it shows that he really loves his daughter more than anything. And my favorite character in the movie is Scarlett. Even though she is sometimes a mean and selfish person she does care deeply for the people she loves and shes so dramatic which is also a great feature in this movie and the actress who played Scarlett really played her very well.

  11. "Take a good look my dear. It's an historic moment you can tell your grandchildren about - how you watched the Old South fall one night.
    -Rhett Butler

This quote is a major turning point of the war. It is when the South realizes that the war is over. Of course, they will not go without a fight, which I think is pretty stupid (less lives lost etc.) but they are the South. This is the point when life, as Scarlett knows it, starts to unravel be fore her eyes. Rhett leaves her, her mother is dead in Tara, and the South is launched into Reconstruction. These events shape her, in good and bad ways. Life is pretty horrid, but it makes her stronger and strengthens her ties with those she cares the most (sort of). I liked it because I thought it was the end of the movie, which sadly, it was not (joking:). I really liked it because it portrayed such a major concept in one sentence, but yet keeps the focus on Scarlett and Rhett.

"London Bridge? Will it be falling down?"
    - Bonnie Blue Butler

What can I say besides so innocent?

Dr. Meade: [to Scarlett] Now you've got to listen to me! You must stay here!
Aunt 'Pittypat' Hamilton: Without a chaperon, Dr. Meade? It simply isn't done!
Dr. Meade: Good heavens, woman! This is a war, not a garden party!
    - Aunt Pittypat Hamilton and Dr. Meade

Shows how much people have to do for the war, even though this quote is so stupid, which is also why I like it.

"Why? Maybe it's because I've always had a weakness for lost causes, once they're really lost. Or maybe, maybe I'm ashamed of myself. Who knows?"
    -Rhett Butler

Hahahaha. Hilarious Butler. Shows that you are just as stupid as Scarlett.

"I can't let Tara go. I won't let it go while there's a breath left in my body."
    -Scarlett O'Hara

Shows how much she loves her home, even though I think she is a bit obsessed with it...

" Why, all we have is cotton and slaves and arrogance."
    -Rhett Butler

Absolutely right Rhett Butler. Portrays the South almost perfectly.

"The only cause I know is by the name of Rhett Butler" (or something like that-its not exactly word for word)
    -Rhett butler

My, you are a vain creature, but you are lying. Another of your lost causes is Scarlett O'hara, with whom you are foolishly in love with

I think those are enough quotes :)

  13. American Film Study: Gone With the Wind: Characters

o Rhett Butler: I like him because he is probably the smartest and most down to earth and practical of all the characters. He is super mean though, to Scarlett, which is one of the reasons I don’t like him that much
o Melanie Hamilton: She is the nicest person in the story, and also practical and kind. She sticks up for Scarlett even though she is cheating on her with her husband. She really has a sense of honor. She is my favorite character
o Mammy: She sticks with Scarlett through thick and thin and is a good judge of character. I also just love when she ticks Scarlett off
o Scarlett O’Hara: I don’t like her much as she is really mean to some people, puts on fancy airs and graces, is really stupid, so dramatic, cheats on her husbands, steals other girl’s boys, and makes a lot of bad decisions. But for some reason you can’t help feel sorry for her at times, especially when Butler is mean to her- and leaves her at the end. Also, the last line, so corny…
o Bonnie Blue Butler: The most adorable little girl ever. I was so sad when she fell of that stupid pony.
o Ashley Wilkes: Is the ugliest, stupidest, wimpiest, and meanest guy ever, the way he plays around with Scarlett and Melanie.
o Prissy: Is the dumbest and most high pitched person ever living. And a liar. Stupid, stupid, stupid Prissy.

  14. Melanie Hamilton
Melanie is a very kind character. She looks like my ideal mother. I would love to have my mom be as kind and caring for everyone like Melanie.

"I'm leaving you, my dear. All you need now is a divorce and your dreams of Ashley can come true. "
It's too bad Scarlett only distinguishes her make-believe love from her true love at the very end when Rhett, her true love, finally leaves her for good.

Rhett and Bonnie in the Playroom
When Bonnie died from the pony accident, Rhett locked himself up in Bonnie's playroom with Bonnie's body. Rhett was very depressed for a period of time from the loss of her only child. It's nice to know that so many people care for you and about you.

  15. Favorite Quote: "I don't know nothin' bout' birthin' babies!!!!"

Favorite scene: When Scarlett and Ashley were fighting and she got mad and threw a vase, and suddenly, Rhett Butler pops out of no where!.

Favorite Character: I have two favorite characters, Mammy and Prissy. I really like Mammy because of how strong-willed she is. She is the kind of person you can always rely on because she is loyal. Mammy has a good sense of respect and loyalty, and I admire her about that. As for Prissy, I just loved her. I personally find her very funny. I am a bit upset that she was quite the little liar, but even though she lied, she still tried to perform what she claimed to be able to d. I guess she might have deserved her slap because "bithin' babies" is a serious matter; however, I certainly don't think she should be verbally assaulted for her mistakes....EH HEMM ROMA HEM HEM.... sorry I had to cough... :)

I also enjoyed the excessive amount of slapping in the movie :)!!!!

  16. Mammy: She blends humor with practicality. She is shown to be not that smart academically, but is a practical woman and helps Scarlett out many times when she does not know what to do.

Mammy: You know what trouble I's talkin' 'bout. I's talking 'bout Mr. Ashley Wilkes. He'll be comin' to Atlanta when he gets his leave, and you sittin' there waitin' for him, just like a spider. He belongs to Miss Melanie...

I like this quote because Mammy tells the viewers that Scarlett's obsession for Ashley is impracticable and will never happen. Mammy tried to show Scarlett the harsh reality of what her obsession, but as stubborn as she is, Scarlett was still attracted to Ashley.

  17. "After All, Tommarow's A Another Day." is my favorite quote because it gives you hope and it shows that maybe Scarlett will go after Rett and that she realized who really loved her.
My favorite scene is when Scarlet was talking to Ashley and after they were done Scarlet smashed a vase against the wall and Rett popped up from behind the couch. I liked that scene because it was pretty funny to see Scarlet's reaction when she found out that Rett had listened to their whole conversation. My favorite character is Rett Buttler because he truly loved Scarlet and even though Scarlet was selfish and would do anything, and sacrifice other people just to reach her own goals, Rett didn't let her do whatever she wanted, he stood up to her and made her realize how selfish she was, by leaving her.

  18. My favorite quotes were "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." and "I'll never go hungry again!" because the former was very punctual and funny, but it also seemed like a just way to end that scene. After Scarlet being chased and rejecting people, she was getting a taste of it. The second one reflected an overall beautiful scene; the drama and strength of it were really moving for me.

  19. Fave Character- Prissy. HER STUPIDITY IS SUPER AMUSING!
Quote- But Ms. Scarlet! I don't know nothin bout birthin babies!
It is my favorite quote from my favorite character
My favorite scene is when Mammy is talking to Scarlet about eating the breakfast, and Scarlet doesn't want to eat anything, so that she doesn't get bloated. I like this scene because it depicted the characters well, and most importantly, depicted the old south greatly.

  20. My favorite quote was "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.." because it was poetic justice; scarlet had led on all these men and either rejected them or made them go crazy, and now she was getting rejected herself. It seems like something i would have said to her,and I can relate to Rett's frustrations with her, so I really liked this quote.

  21. "After All, Tomorrows A Another Day." it is saying that there is another chance to restart the next day. It's saying the past is the past.
Charles Hamilton: he had a funny way of dying.

  22. My favorite scene from the movie was when Scarlett was with her dad at the hill in Tara, because the background image was very beautiful and the shadows where very good also the wind gently blowing Scarlett's dress was a really nice touch.
My favorite line from the whole movie was probably "After all, tommorow's another day. Because it really goes with Scarlett's character.
My favorite character is Melannie, because she is so sweet and nice. She is like the perfect friend. She was always there for Scarlett no matter how much Scarlett dislliked her.

  23. "Frankly, I don't give a damn." is my favorite quote because it's funny how he replies to something so serious, and intense.
My favorite scene is when she's in the field, and she throws up due to a raw potato. It is my favorite scene, because it shows her desperation.
My favorite character is Scarlet because she changed from a shallow person, to a caring and loving person towards the end.

  25. My favorite quote from Gone With The Wind was "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." This was said by Rhett Butler. I like this quote because it shows how Rhett Butler FINALLY reacted to Scarlett O'Hara's betrayal. He used to love her more than ever before, but now that Bonnie Blue Butler (Rhett's daughter) is gone, he doesn't find any bond or reason for the him and Scarlett to stay together. I agree with him. All she wanted was the money, and that is just unfair for Rhett, because he TRULY loved her. She was in love with Ashley Wilkes, and only married Rhett for the money.
My favorite character is Melanie Hamilton, because she didn't get really mad at Scarlett for flirting so much with her husband. Melanie is so calm and quiet, and she finds out ways to solve problems. She also doesn't betray anyone and she loved Ashley with ALL her heart. She is also SO sweet and super nice. She took great care of her son and Ashley.
My favorite scene was the last scene, because Scarlett doesn't give up in the end. It's good that Bonnie died, because after that Scarlett's responsibility and action were shown to her.

  27. Favorite Quote:"After all tomorrow is another day" -Scarlett
It's wise and it gives of a feeling of hope to me.No matter what happens today, tomorrow is another day.You can start over.
Favorite scene:When Prissy said that she know nothing about birth and babies and when Melanie about to have a baby.
Before she said that she know everything about babies, it's funny how fast she changed.
Favorite character:Mammy. She is funny, honest, and so straight forward.
